Piano, Safe, and Specialty Item Moving

Heavy, awkward, and irreplaceable pieces moved right — from $299.

Some pieces are too heavy, too valuable, or too awkward to trust to a general crew, and a New England staircase only makes it harder. Economy Movers moves uprights and baby grands, gun safes and fireproof safes, antique armoires, slate pool tables, and the kind of oversized art that will not survive a careless tilt. Specialty work starts at $299, and we tell you the number before we touch the item.

Brian’s crew leads have years of moving the things most movers would rather decline. We bring piano boards, four-wheel dollies, stair-climbing equipment, and the muscle to control a 600-pound load down a narrow back stairway one step at a time.

The New England Stair Problem

A baby grand does not care that your Beacon Hill walk-up was built in 1890 with a turn at the landing too tight for the case. We measure first, plan the angle, and pad every contact point on the wall and the instrument. In January, when the steps are iced over, we sand and salt the path before a single wheel rolls.

Safes, Tables, and the Rest

Gun safes and heavy floor safes get strapped, dollied, and walked with controlled descents, never dragged. Slate pool tables come apart and reassemble level. Whatever the piece, it travels secured and blanketed.

Call (888) 711-4778 with the make, the size, and the stairs, and we will quote your specialty move.

What Boston Folks Tell Us

Megan R.
Beacon Hill, Boston · Google
★★★★★

“Our Beacon Hill place is a fourth-floor walk-up with zero elevator and the tightest stairwell in the city, and Brian's crew never once complained. They hauled my grandmother's marble-top dresser up without a single scuff on the banister. The written quote they handed me before the job was exactly what I paid at the end, down to the dollar.”

“Moved my daughter out of her MIT apartment at the end of the spring semester when half of Cambridge was doing the same thing. Economy Movers showed up on time in their own truck, two guys in uniform, and had her packed and loaded in under three hours. Three other companies quoted me almost double what I ended up paying these folks.”

Priya S.
Worcester, MA · Google

“We live on the third floor of a classic Worcester triple-decker, and the back stairs are so narrow I honestly didn't think our couch would make it. The crew measured, popped the legs off, and angled it through like they'd done it a hundred times. Honest pricing, no nonsense, and they actually called the night before to confirm.”

Service Questions

Can you get a piano down a tight, turning staircase?
Yes. We measure the staircase and the landing first, then plan the angle, pad the walls and the instrument, and walk it down one controlled step at a time. Narrow old New England stairwells are exactly what our specialty gear is for.
How much does a piano or safe move cost?
Specialty moves start at $299, with the exact price set by the item's size and weight and the stairs involved. We quote it before move day, so call with the make, dimensions, and how many flights are in the way.
Do you move pianos and safes in the winter?
We do, year round. On icy January days we sand and salt the path and stage the descent carefully before anything rolls. A nor'easter on the calendar may mean we reschedule for the load's safety, but most winter moves go fine.
What protection covers my piano if it gets damaged?
It is. We carry up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment, with full-value protection available on top of the standard released-value option. Specialty items are blanketed and secured for the whole ride.
